Belgian cyber defence specialist chooses Equinix to serve European market
Amsterdam, 01 August 2019 - Equinix, Inc (Nasdaq: EQIX), the global provider of interconnection and data center services, announces a partnership with Belgian cyber defence specialist Emerging Dynamics (EMDYN®). Current EMDYN clients, including governments, software vendors and multinationals, as well as companies that are already present on the Platform Equinix®, will benefit from increased connectivity and security capabilities for their business processes.
Enhanced interconnection possibilities
One of the customers of EMDYN is Global Integrity; this vendor offers dSecure, a solution that allows clients to automatically protect their intellectual property, personal information and email communications. Military-level encryption is fully integrated into Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The encryption solution also protects numerous file types such as PDFs, audio and video files. At this moment dSecure is available through Ingram Micro as distributor. By hosting the encryption service at Equinix in Amsterdam, it is in a place that not only meets the stringent security requirements, but also offers with the ability to directly interconnect with numerous telecom parties and service providers.
Cybersecurity risks drivers for interconnection
Equinix’ annual Global Interconnection Index recently showed that cybersecurity risk is a key driver of interconnection bandwidth, with a current growth rate of 48% (compound annual growth rate). Firms increasingly shift towards private data traffic exchange to bypass the public internet and mitigate against digital threats as data is distributed across a growing number of vulnerability points. Large-scale cybersecurity breaches are one of the most serious risks facing the world today, and the scale of the threat is expanding drastically. By 2021, the global cost of cybersecurity breaches is projected to reach US$6 trillion1.
“Security is an ongoing strategic focus for our clients," says Michiel Eielts, Managing Director Equinix Benelux. "That is why we see an increase in the use of direct physical and virtual interconnections between organizations, instead of exchanging data via the public internet. We are pleased to add Emerging Dynamics to our partner program. The partnership provides our customers with the ability to easily add an extra layer of security to their IT deployments.”
"Emerging Dynamics always goes "the extra mile" when it comes to security," said Tim van Renterghem, founder and CEO of Emerging Dynamics. "Today we can provide security services up to the "classified" level with maximum security and transparency. In addition to governmental clients, we can further expand our services to software suppliers and enterprise clients across the EMEA region. Equinix' ability to meet all of our clients’ requirements enables us to meet the highest standards of physical security. In short, we are very pleased with this collaboration."
